At Yaffa Dance by Danni Dassa ? Notes by Phillip M. Feldman June 29, 1988 At Yaffa is a three-part couple dance of moderate tempo. The diffi- culty level is 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. Man's steps are given; woman's are the mirror image (opposite footwork) except where noted. Part 1: Begin with partners face to face, women on the outside of the circle, and hands joined at waist level. 1-2: Step to the left with L and close R to L with weight. 3-4: Repeat 1-2. 5-8: Grapevine left: Step to left with L, cross R in front of L, step to left with L, and cross R behind L. 9-10: Sway to left and to right. 11-12: Man: Take two steps in place (L-R) while turning partner in a full turn to the right. Woman: Make a two-step turn to the right with R-L (no travel). 13-16: With man's right hand around woman's waist, couple makes a full turn to the right in four steps. 17-32: Repeat 1-16. Part 2: 1-4: Change places with partner: Step back on R, rock forward onto L, pivoting 180 degrees to the left, step back on R, and cross L behind R (men are now on the outside of the circle). 5-6: Step to the right with R and cross L in front of R. 7-8: Step to the right with R and cross L in front of R, bending knees slightly. 9: Rock back onto R. 10-11: Make a two-step turn to the left with L-R. 12: Step to left with L. 13-14: Sway to right and to left. 15-28: Repeat 1-14. Part 3: Join hands with partner at waist level. 1-2: Step to left with L and close R to left. 3-4: Step to left with L and pause. 5-6: Close R to left and step to left with L. 7-8: Close R to left without weight and pause. 9-12: Take three steps forward with R-L-R and rock back onto L. 13-16: Take three steps backward with R-L-R and rock forward onto L. 17-18: Stamp R with weight and pause.
