Eretz, Eretz (Land, Land) Dance by Shlomo Bachar and Yaacov "Yankele" Levy 1974 Notes by Phillip M. Feldman 8/5/1987 This easy circle dance has two parts. Part 1: Begin facing center with hands joined at waist level. 1-2: Step to the right with R and cross L behind R. 3-4: Two-step half turn to the right with R-L to face out of the circle. (Drop hands briefly while turning). 5: Cross R behind L. 6-7: Two step half turn to the _left_ with L-R to face into the circle again. 8: Close with L. 9-10: Step in place on R and lift the left knee. 11-12: Two in-place steps with L-R. Counts 13-16 are the mirror image of 9-12. 13-14: Step in place on L and lift the right knee. 15-16: Two in-place steps with R-L. 17-32: Repeat 1-16. Part 2: Face center and link arms at shoulder level. 1-4: "Hassidic step": Step to the right with R, cross L behind R, step to the right with R, and touch with the left heel in front. 5-8: Mirror image of 1-4: Step to the left with L, cross R behind L, step to the left with L, and touch with the right heel in front. 9-10: Step to the right with R and touch left heel. 11-12: Step to the left with L and touch right heel. 13-16: Step backwards onto R, rock forward onto L, lift the right knee, and hold for one count. Bend both knees slightly on count 14. 17-32: Repeat 1-16. The whole dance repeats three times. At the end of the dance, the second part repeats an extra time.
