Hora Mamtera Notes by Phillip M. Feldman 6/16/1988 Hora Mamtera is a fast four-part circle dance. The difficulty level is 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. The dance repeats three times. Part 1: Begin facing LOD (CCW around the circle), with hands joined at waist level. 1-6: Travel forward with three step-hops: Step on R and hop, step on L and hop, step on R and hop. 7-8: Cross L in front of R and leap backwards onto R (between 7 and 8 you turn 90 degrees to the left to face reverse LOD). 9-10: Step backward onto L and pivot (or turn in the air) to face center; step to the right with R. 11-12: Cross L in front of R and hop. 13-18: Travel to the right with slide-close-slide-close-slide-hop (R-L-R-L-R). 19-24: Travel to the left with slide-close-slide-close-slide-hop (L-R-L-R-L). Part 2: Begin facing center. Drop hands. 1-2: Full turn to the right with R-L. 3-4: Step back with R and rock forward onto L. 5-8: Chirkassia: Step forward with R, rock back onto L, step back with R, and rock forward onto L. Styling: On 5, raise hands. 9-16: Repeat 1-8. Part 3: Begin facing LOD. Join hands. 1-4: Travel forward with two step-hops (R-hop, L-hop). 5-6: Jump on both and, turning 180 degrees to the left to face reverse LOD, land on R. 7-8: Jump on both and, turning 180 degrees to the right (returning to face LOD), land on L. 9-16: Repeat 1-8. Part 4: Face center. Hands are joined. 1-2: Make a small leap forward onto R, bending right knee slightly, and hold for 1 count. Raise arms sharply on 1. 3-4: (Lowering arms) rock back onto L and hold for 1 count. 5-8: Closing R to L, take four quick steps in place with R-L-R-L. 9-16: Repeat 1-8. Repeat part 3 of the dance.
