Hora Tzhok (Hora of Laughter) Dance by Moti Elfassy Notes by Phillip M. Feldman August 15, 1988 Hora Tzhok is a moderately fast four-part circle dance. The level of difficulty is 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. Throughout the dance, hands are joined at waist level except when turning. Part 1: Facing center. 1-4: Four running steps of grapevine right (traveling CCW around the circle): Step to the right with R, cross L in front of R, step to the right with R, and cross L behind R. 5-6: Hora right (quick in-place R-L-R-pause). 7-8: Hora left (quick in-place L-R-L-pause). 9-32: Repeat 1-8 three more times. Part 2: Begin facing center. 1-2: Step (or small leap) to the right with R and close L to R. 3-4: Repeat 1-2. 5-6: Facing LOD (CCW around the circle) travel forward with two running steps (R-L). 7-8: Facing center, jump on both feet and land on R. 9-16: Mirror image of 1-8. Part 3: Begin facing center. 1-4: Same as 1-4 of part 2. 5-6: Two step turn to the right with R-L. 7-8: Same as 7-8 of part 2. 9-16: Mirror image of 1-8. Part 4: Begin facing LOD (CCW around circle). 1-2: Right Debka step: Touch in front with right heel or kick forward (a small kick) with R; then step forward onto R. 3-4: Left Debka step. 5-8: Repeat 1-4. 9-12: Three-step 3/4 turn to the right with R-L-R and clap on 12. 13-16: Three-step full turn to the left with L-R-L-pause (no clap).
