Hora Zemer Notes by Phillip M. Feldman July 7, 1988 Hora Zemer is a moderately fast two-part circle dance. The diffi- culty level is 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. Hands are joined at waist level throughout the dance. Part 1: Begin facing LOD (CCW around the circle). 1-4: Four running steps forward with R-L-R-L, turning 90 degrees to the left while (or after) taking fourth step. 5-8: Reverse grapevine (running): Step to the right with R, cross L behind R, step to the right with R, and cross L in front. 9-10: Facing LOD, two more running steps with R-L, pivoting on L to face center again. 11-12: Facing center and moving to the right, hop twice on L, touching R to L on each hop. 13-16: Repeat 9-12. 17-32: Repeat 1-16. 33-36: Chirkassia right: Step forward with R (raising hands), rock back onto L (lowering hands), step back with R, and rock forward onto L. Part 2: Begin facing center with hands joined. 1-3: Stamp R to right with weight and hop twice, swinging L in a half circle (from left to right). 4: Cross L in front of R. 5-6: Step back with R (a small step) and step to the left with L. 7-8: Cross R in front of L and step to the left with L. 9-16: Repeat 1-8. 17-20: Right Hassidic step: Step to right with R, cross L behind R, step to right with R, and hop on R. Styling: Lift left knee (or kick forward with L) on 20. 21-24: Left Hassidic step: Step to left with L, cross R behind L, step to left with L, and hop on L. Same styling. 25-26: Run forward (into circle) with R-L. 27: Step in place on R and touch in front with L. 28: (Bringing L next to R) step on L and touch in front with R. 29-30: Run backward with R-L. 31-32: Repeat 27-28.
