Odelach Notes by Phillip M. Feldman June 23, 1988 Odelach is a two-part circle dance of moderate tempo. The diffi- culty level is 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. Hands are not joined. Part 1: Begin facing center. 1-4: Step to the right with R, pause, cross L in front, and pause. 5-8: Yemenite right: Step to the right with R, lean to the left, cross R in front of L, and pause. 9-12: Back Yemenite left: Step back with L, close R to L, and step forward with L. 13-14: Touch in front with right heel and step forward onto R. 15-16: Step in place with L (next to R) and pivot 90 degrees to the right on L to face LOD (CCW around circle). 17-20: Travel forward with right-together-right-pivot (R-L-R). On 20, pivot 90 degrees on R to face out of the circle. 21-24: (Facing out) back Yemenite left. 25-28: Back Yemenite right. 29-32: Left Yemenite half-turn: Step to the left with L, lean to the right, pivoting 180 degrees to the right on R to face into the circle, and step to the left with L. 33-64: Repeat 1-32. Part 2: Begin facing center. Each dancer crosses his or her left and right hands at the wrists. 1-4: Step to the right with R, pause, cross L in front of R, and pivot on L to face LOD. 5-8: Travel forward with touch-step-step-pause (R-L). 9-16: Repeat 1-8, ending with a 90 degree pivot to face center. 17-20: Sway to the right, pause, sway to the left, and pause. Styling: Snap fingers on 17 and 19. 21-24: Travel in to the circle with touch-step-step-pause (R-L). 25-28: Repeat 21-24. 29: Leap forward, landing with feet together and bending knees. 30: Pause. 31-32: (Unbending knees) move backward with two fast steps or leaps (R-L). 33-64: Repeat 1-32.
