Od Nagia Dance by Yossi Abuhav Notes by Phillip M. Feldman Sept. 24, 1987 Od Nagia is a fast three-part couple dance. The difficulty level is 4 on scale of 1 to 5. Steps are identical for men and women. Throughout the dance, hands are not joined. All three parts of the dance begin with partners facing each other and women on the outside of the circle. Part 1: Begin facing partner; allow separation of 3-4 feet. 1: Leap in place onto R with L extended and pivot 180 degrees to the right (CW) on R. 2: Put weight on L. 3-4: Repeat 1-2 to end facing partner again. 5-6: Quick Yemenite right: Step to right with R (or in-place on R), step in-place on L, and cross R directly in front of L. 7-8: Quick Yemenite left (mirror image of Yemenite right). 9-10: "Fall right" (tiny in-place leap onto R) and cross L in front of R, bending both knees slightly. 11-12: Small step back with R and step to left with L, closing L to R. 13-14: Slide forward on R, touching palm of right hand with partner, and pivot 180 degrees to left (CCW) on R and simultaneously transfer weight forward to L. 15-16: Repeat 13-14 (without the touch, of course), returning to face partner. 17-32: Repeat 1-16. Part 2: Begin facing partner (actually, partner should be slightly to your right). 1-2: Travel forward (passing right shoulders with your partner) with step-together-step-pause, i.e., step forward with R, drag L forward stiffly (L remains slightly behind R), and step forward with R. Swing left arm forward (up to approx. shoulder height) on 1, and let it fall back on 2. 3-4: Continue forward with mirror image of 1-2, i.e., with L-R-L, swinging right arm forward. 5-6: Slide forward on R; pivot 180 degrees to left on R and simul- taneously transfer weight forward to L. 7-8: (Partners facing each other, men on outside) step forward onto R and rock back onto L. 9-12: Three-step turn to the right with R-L-R, and clap hands. 13-16: Three-step turn to the left with L-R-L, and clap hands. 17-32: Repeat 1-16, to end with women on outside of circle again. Part 3: Begin facing partner. 1-6: Double chirkassia: Cross R in front of L, rock back onto L, step to right with R, cross L in front of R, rock back onto R, and step to left with L. 7-8: Two-step 3/4 turn to left (CCW) with R-L. Partners are now facing each other along the circumference of the circle, with women facing LOD (CCW). 9-14: Another double chirkassia, touching palms on crossing steps. 15-16: Two-step full turn to the left with R-L. 17-20: Facing partner, travel to right (men going into circle, women going out) with reverse grapevine: Step to the right with R, cross L behind R, step to right with R, and cross L in front. 21-24: Step to the right with R and make a three-step full turn to the left with L-R-L. 25-28: Mayim R-L-R-L: Cross R in front of L, step to left with L, cross R behind L, step to left with L. 29-32: Make 1 and 3/4 turns to the right with R-L-R-L, returning to starting position of dance.
