Mi HaIsh (Who is the Man) Dance: Eliyahu Gamliel Music: Traditional Chassidic Mi Haish is a three-part easy/intermediate circle dance. Hands are joined except when otherwise noted. Part 1: Begin facing LOD (CCW around circle). 1-2: Two steps forward R-L. 3-6: Cherkessia-right step in LOD (R forward, shift weight back to L, R backwards, shift weight forward to L). 7-8: Two steps forward R-L. 9-16: Repeat 1-8. 17-18: Two steps forward R, L in LOD, turning body partially towards center of circle on 18. 19-20: Facing center, sway right and left. 21: Cross R in front of L. 22-23: Swing L to left and cross it in front of R. 24: Step to right with R. 25-28: Mirror image of 21-24 (cross L in front of R, swing R...) 29: Stamp R forward while body bends forward. 30-32: Three steps backwards, L-R-L. 33-64: Repeat 1-32. Part 2: Begin facing center. 1-4: Two step-bends in place R, L. 5-6: Stamp R forward and swing L forward with bent knee. 7-8: Two steps backwards, L-R. 9-12: Mirror image of 5-8. 13-14: Two-step half-turn to R (CW) with R-L. 15-16: Step-bend backwards with R. 17-32: Repeat 1-16. Part 3: Begin facing center. 1-4: Four step-bens R-L-R-L, in Chassidic style, accenting 1 and 3. 5-6: Step-bend R forward (weight remains on L) while reaching forward and upward with both hands. 7-8: Step back with R while turning 1/4 to R, and reach to right and hold. 9-12: Mirror image of 5-8. 13-16: Four-step half turn to right with R-L-R-L to end facing out. 17-32: Repeat 1-16.
